Birdy

So this poll I made was talking about childhood stuffed animals. So I decided to share some photos of mine and more stories behind them.

First up is Birdy.

Birdy was my second favorite stuffed animal (my first was a blue bunny named Floppy who unfortunately was lost). I don’t think he ever had a name, he was just Birdy. Birdy used to have a noise maker tube inside and when you shook it it made a sound kind of like a squawk mixed with wheezing and squeaking. 

Birdy’s butt met an unfortunate end. As did his noise maker. One day my step-mom came in my room to tuck me in and ended up reading a book to me. She turned on the lamp on my night stand, which I never used. Well, I did use it. But not for light. I used it as a perch for Birdy.

About halfway through the book we started to smell burning. When we finally figured out it was roasted Birdy I sobbed. My step-mom wanted to throw Birdy away because at this point he was a nasty burned mess, but I refused.

We moved when I was about 10. Birdy went into storage and remained there, lost, until last year when my Great-Grandmother died and we found a few hidden boxes in her basement. Since Birdy and I have been re-united I see him every day sitting on top of the paper organizer in my craft room.
